The Financial Reporting Council is the statutory body which accepts complaints regarding possible accounting non-compliance by listed companies and for complaints relating to the audits of listed companies.

These responsibilities will change following the introduction of legislation which will mean that the FRC will be the statutory body regulating listed company auditors with powers of inspection, investigation and discipline.

This is an exciting time to join the FRC and the successful candidate will enjoy a very senior position in the organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The primary role is to supervise complaint and investigation cases
  • Oversee the financial statements review programme
  • Assist in the preparation of the structure and strategic planning for the future role of FRC
  • Help introduce a compliance programme to monitor the progress of cases
  • Work closely with the existing two Senior Directors and General Counsel to update policies and procedures manuals
  • Develop a thought leadership programme to respond to international requests for comment on accounting, auditing and ethics standards
  • Assist in introducing modern, electronic filing and case management systems
  • Contribute to the development of internal resources by planning, sourcing and arranging training sessions for staff members

The candidate is expected to be a professionally qualified accountant with at least 12 years post-qualification experience.


  • A strong auditing background
  • Experience in counselling and team building
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge
  • Experience in compliance and/or administration is an advantage
  • Excellent command of English and Chinese
  • High professional and ethical standards with a strong sense of commitment, together with interpersonal skills
